3D Mark 03 Crashes

Setup:
Athlon64 3200+ (s939 Winchester core)
1GB OCZ DDR466 Rev. 3
MSI K8N Neo2 (BIOS v. 1.3)
Antec NeoPower 480watt PSU
single 36.7GB WD Raptor
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Sony CPD-E540/B 21" Trinitron
Lian-Li PC-V1000

Okay, so I overclocked my CPU to 2.2GHz (10*220 HTT/FSB) and my memory to 220MHz (2.5, 4, 4, 10). Prime95 ran for ~22 hours with no errors, 3D Mark 05 and PC Mark 04 both completed with no hassles, and memtest86 ran for about 4 hours with no errors. 3D Mark 03 crashes after the 1st demo every time. Any ideas as to why? Should I be worried (I wouldn't figure so if memtest and Prime95 ran for so long without errors)? Thanks for the input.

Not really sure, usually when 3dMark crashes for me it's becuase there isn't enough voltage, but that doesn't seem to be the case for you considering the other stability. Try bumping up the voltage a little bit and see if that solves it, if not try uninstalling and reinstalling 3dMark03 again.

Do u mean the whole rig crashes- or just the program?

Going on the former situation, i'd say PSU- when i had 3dmark crashes it was my 9800 pro putting too big a load on my crappy no-name job, and the HDD not getting enuff juice or a nasty little fluctuation that made it crash- had 2 disconnect a few other devices to solve the prob- but u can run 3dmark05 fine- so that kinda invalidates all i just said :p

The program crashes. Everything else is fine. I don't know if I care enough to increase voltages any more than I already have. So I'll try reinstalling, and if that doesn't work, I'll just say screw it.

Also, I doubt it's my PSU (it's an Antec NeoPower 480watt, and my rails are pretty solid). I only have one optical drive and one hard drive on top of my GPU connected, and the fact the 3D Mark 05 and PC Mark 04 completed with no problems makes me think it's an isolated issue (unique to 3D Mark 03).

Thanks again.

make sure agp is at 66, try 7-3-3-2.5, and make sure you are running 2t.

The AGP frequency has always been 66MHz. I already tried 2.5, 3, 3, 8, and Prime95 crashed after an hour or so. Thus, 2.5, 3, 3, 7 probably wouldn't work. Also, I've always been running at 2T.

To enable the locks on your board you need the agp bus set to 67, not 66. Also, get bios 1.36 and you will have better results.

I was told the AGP lock was enabled by default, and I already tried running 3D Mark 03 using the default settings and it still crashed. I'll try reinstalling tomorrow after class, and I might upgrade the BIOS if I can find v. 1.36 (it's not on the global or US MSI site). Thanks again.

Umm, where did you find the 1.36 bios? I looked around but no luck. It's not on MSi's website.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it.

Well, I just reinstalled 3D Mark 03, and it stilled crashed. I set the AGP frequency to 67MHz, and I couldn't seem to find BIOS v. 1.36. From what I read on the MSI forum, v. 1.36 is time stamped earlier than 1.3, so I don't know if it would even address anything important for me. Anyway, I think I'll just give up on 3D Mark 03 for now.

One other thing, where did you guys find out that you need to set the AGP frequency to 67MHz in order to lock the AGP bus?

Thanks.

Hi, bytor33. Is the 67MHz setting only for MSI mobo or others, too? I have an Abit-NF7-S (nForce 2 Ultra 400). Thanks.:)
