3d lockups on SLI system

Hi everyone,

I just posted over in the video category, but I realized this might be the better place.

I've got an SLI system I built up real recently, and it runs great except for some regular lockups in 3d programs. They're consistent lockups, and don't seem to be temperature related. For instance, the most notable time where the system hangs is in Doom 3 in hell where you pick up the plasma rifle and then the platform drops down a bit. Right in that lower room, it always hangs. There are a few other consistent places in other games, although this is the one that comes to mind. It's always when I'm running 3d and at specific times.

Everything checks out in dxdiag.exe, and my drivers are all current.

Here are my system specs if it's of help:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe (Bios 1008)
Athlon 64 FX-55
2x Leadtek Geforce 6800U PCI-express
2 gigs of OCZ platinum memory
SB Audigy 4
2x WD Raptors in Raid 0
600W Enermax Noisetaker

This is really driving me nuts. I don't know what would cause these hangs. Temperatures seem good, drivers should be good. I get the same results whether I have SLI enabled or not.

At this point, all I can think of is a hopeful reformat, but I'd prefer not to if I don't have to. Considering the problem, I don't even know if a reformat would fix anything. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Malcolm

Hey thanks for the reply. I can't find anything out of the ordinary in Event Viewer. At first I noticed a couple DCOM errors regarding iPodService, but I went back and replicated the freeze without the DCOM error. System-wise, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. Do you think the best bet from here is to try formatting a second hard drive and booting a fresh install on that?
