I can't help remembering the movie, "The Jerk" with Steve Martin, and those newfangled glasses that made everyone eventually go crosseyed.

Elsa's 3D glasses...

I am curious, but EXTREMELY hesitant to go out and buy these. Anyone use 'em? Can you describe to me the benefits and detriments? How much radiation would my eyes take compared to that of my monitor?

PS- I'm a gamer... would they be useful?

thanks

I'm sure if they worked well we'd hear a lot more about them. I think they only work in DirectX which is mostly fine. They prolly only work with Elsie's (sic) driver packages which means hopelessly behind reference ones. They are not displays so no worry about radiation -I think they are just different colored LCD shutters that open and close rapidly to create the effect (if I remember right). I would search for reviews of 'em. They were offered for less moolah with an Elsie card I had but I never bit.

My bro has an asus v6800 deluxe - with the 3d glasses. Yes, its an LCD that each eye flickers alternately, so every other frame is for the other eye. works very well in some games, not so well in others. 3dmark2000's helicopter demo is screwey but thats b/c the helicopter is too close. it works AWESOME in unreal tourney and some flight sims.
