Well, here's what I know about the Revelator glass(from Elsa). They do work, it does look 3d. But on the down side, the screen is darker, and it can be a little disoreintating is your not looking at the screen at the right angle. They only work with d3d games(no open gl). Must have a nvidia based video card to use these glasses. Nvidia drivers(as of yet) do not support them, so you have to use an elsa variation of driver. To me they're a nifty toy, but until the nvidia ref driver support them(the 10.5 detonator isn't official yet, but appears to) they're not an everday/everplay thing. They work by basically cover in eye while the monitor displays 2 images, so fast that it appears to be 3d. Also, the monitor refresh rate needs to be high to work(110mhz) otherwise the image appears to be flashing.
I used to have a Metabyte Wicked Venegence vid card(a voodoo chipset)that supported 3d, but never could find anyone who sold the glasses, so I guess I'm no help to you if you go the voodoo route.
