I have an All In Wonder Radeon 9600. I just installed a Viewsonic Viewpanel VG151 LCD monitor to replace my previous Samsung Syncmaster 955DF CRT. I have the latest drivers for both video card and monitor.
When I try to play most 3D games, such as need for speed underground or NHL2004, my computer crashes to desktop upon trying to start a game or race. In Splinter Cell the display is completely screwed up, unviewable, unless I put on the thermal vision goggles, which I believe uses pixel shaders rather than polygons? The ATI demos didn't work yesterday, but they do today, I'm not sure whether or not it's because I reinstalled the display drivers. NHL2004 only works if I have anisotropic filtering off.
Today I reinstalled the Cat 4.2 display drivers by uninstalling, using driver cleaner, and reinstalling, and it didn't make a difference other than making the ATI demos work. I didn't try the ATI demos today before reinstalling, however, so I'm not sure if that's why.
Does anyone have any solutions/ideas to this extremely strange problem? Thanks
