Don't know if this was already posted, but I feel like I must get this out there!

Quoted from the website:

"3D-Analyze is a tool for transform and lightning hardware emulation. So it is very useful for running TnL games on video cards that have not on board dedicated circuits for TnL calculations (like all Voodoo, Kyro, some Radeon and older). It uses power of central processing unit to do emulation.

3d analyze is a Graphics Card Emulator that can emulate all the feature of a 3d graphics card like pixelshader 1.1, 1.4, 2.0, bump maps and a lota stuff. If a game stops running on your system just because u dont have a graphics card, dont worry 3d analyze will do it for ya. run 3danalyze select the game exe, select a few options u wanna emulate and there u go the game run perfectly now."

Don't mind the Spanish link, they have an English section as well. Unfortunately it looks like too few people know about this, so their forum has very little posts and there is not much discussion going on, but there is a devoted community, mostly consisting of those that own the 3dfx Voodoo cards. (maybe I am missing something here and Voodoos are somehow superior to all other ancient video cards?)

Anyway, the point is this thing WORKS and definitely NOT just with Voodoos! Somehow people were able to run Doom3 on an ancient card. There is plenty of screenshots in the forum. Someone managed to run Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, and Half Life 2 on a very old system.

Doom3 looks like crap, stripped of most of it's eye candy and looking more like the original doom. But HL2 and DOW actually looks very impressive. To me, it's shocking that something like this is even possible.

I tested 3D-Analyze on EVE and was able to emulate things like shader model, DX 8.1 (which is not even supported officially), and other things. Some people in EVE forums had success running with integrated gfx.

Do yourself a favor and check it out! I figured if more people know about this, there's no telling what might be accomplished. ;)

That's the thing, in the case of some games you most likely CAN!

so you still need like a really fast cpu?

Depends on the game. But it's already clear that you can run some games which you otherwise wouldn't be able to. It's all about how many people will be willing to sit there and tweak the program settings just right so they can get their favorite game working.

Heh, this has been around since the days of the geforce 3 at least. Works great, though I'd imagine it's less and less useful all the time. (though it could probably get SM3.0 games running on sm2.0 cards with graphical issues)

Hot doggy!!1!

That I cannot guarantee at all. but you MIGHT be able to, and if you get it to run at descent speed some sacrifices will need to be made, and the game will look much worse as opposed to better PCs.

The only thing I cant understand is does this program only emulate the things your video card is not capapble of and the card does the rest, or does it completely take the video card out of the equation making the cpu emulate everything?
