With all this 3D stuff coming out I am reading that 3D movies will not work with 60Hz sets. First off, is this true and second, if it is true...why?

yes--no 3d on 60hz

and no 3d will not work on 120hz lcds...which would have been your next question had you googled your first two questions...

I guess it depends on the type of 3D. The old Red/Blue 3D works just fine on my 720p 60Hz DLP projector.

A gimmick anyway....look what happened at Cowboys Stadium. It was suppose to be 3D on the screen for the 3rd quarter, it lasted 6 minutes and people cheered when they turned it off.

Yes, it's a gimmick that won't extend beyond Blu-ray at most. TV studios just spent a heap of money upgrading to HD. For 3D, you'll need stereoscopic cameras, compatible NLE software, more powerful rendering computers, more man-hours to put it together, and likely it will use more bandwidth (due to more data). How long did it take for the "HD Revolution" to happen? Most networks are still airing a lot of current programming in SD. They just aren't going to want to invest in that right now.

is it true? i dont see why they couldn't have a downgrade mode for 30fps each eye.
we are talking lcd shutter glasses after all, it would just be the players job to output the correct frame rate. whether they'll bother is another matter. whether they'll charge a sensible price for 3d discs is also questionable.
