3com Wireless Router Weirdness

I set up my 3com home connect adsl modem/wireless router last night and all appears to be working well.

The computer I'm having difficulties with is the one I'm typing on right now and is used mainly for browsing, chatting and a bit of P2P via Emule. This computer is a desktop and connected to the router via the ethernet port.

Now when I ran Emule last night I ended up with the classic "lowid" and had to do a spot of port forwarding to get it back to normal.

Now here is the strange part....

If I surf, chat, download via ftp or http or use any type of online program everything is groovy baby for as long as I want.

Now

If I load Emule it will connect and I can download and do all the usual Emule things but at a certain point my browsing is blocked and I get this message:

>>The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings <<

This happens after a few mins of using Emule.

I'm sure you've all seen it before and there is nothing unusual about it - other than telling you that you cannot see the page as you have no connection to it!

So why does running Emule with a router do this to me? It does not do it without a router and it's never done it to me on any other router I've used either....

Now if I decide to browse on one of the remote connections wirelessly there is no problem at all - it only seems to be that the browsing stops on the "wired" connection running Emule.

The other weird thing is that I can go into the history and choose certain websites and be able to view them...

If I close Emule the browser will still not respond until I reboot the pc and all is well again - only once I load Emule again will the problem recurr

Any ideas please?

😕
