3Com PCCARD problems with WinME updates; VAIO laptop

Ran Windows Update for WinME on Sony VAIO laptop and the 3Com NIC (3CCFE574BT) is locking the system up. Tried locating newer/alternate driver for card, but no avail. Searched MS, Sony, and 3Com sites, but only found vague reference to Media Sense issue in Win98. Thoughts? Thanks
