3Com PCCARD problems with WinME updates; VAIO laptop

Ran Windows Update for WinME on Sony VAIO laptop and the 3Com NIC (3CCFE574BT) is locking the system up. Tried locating newer/alternate driver for card, but no avail. Searched MS, Sony, and 3Com sites, but only found vague reference to Media Sense issue in Win98. Thoughts? Thanks

Nobody has had WinME update problems, a Sony Laptop hang, or a 3Com card screw the pooch?
