Smart Bargains has the 3Com OfficeConnect Cable Modem for 119.99 and 6.95 for shipping. Get $40 rebate from 3com and $20 rebate using MSN Eshop promotion. Slightly better than Buy.com's deal.

Watch out for this one.

Even though it's docsis, I've heard reports that it doesn't work fully with both @home and optimumonline.

Make SURE your cable provider says this modem will work before buying.

I would call them up or use the cool online chat they have and ask them if this modem will work with their service before you buy it.

<< It aint' on the list...don't trust it. >>

Not only is it not on the list, I informed everyone up above that their are KNOWN problems with this modem when used with at least 2 different ISPs.

I took the chance yesterday. Smart bargains has a 14 day return policy so I may be out about $10 for shipping. Eshop already credited $20 to my account. If I do return it maybe they will forget to take it back:)

I got this modem a few months ago from a previous Hot Deal for $100 after rebate. It is not "officially" supported by @Home. When I called to get it provisioned, it wasn't on the list so the guy just provisioned it as another 3Com that was close to it and it works fine. I got the added bonus that since it is not one of the official modems, I don't think they have it set up on their end to be capped. My download speed went from a peak of 366 k/s down, to about 600 k/s. My upload went from about 12-14 k/s to 120-130 k/s. Works for me:D

I don't want to trash your post, but do not buy this modem! 3Com offers no virtually no support for this modem since the have discontinued their cable modem products.

I bought one of these at Fry's a month ago. It didn't even work. I tried for a whole week to get it up and running but no cigar.

They are discontinued piece of craps. Thats why they are so cheap...

any ways, go to new egg and get the TOSHIBA PCX1100U DOCSIS CABLE MODEM WITH USB - RETAIL
The best cable modem out there and its $116.

a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for.
