I have a 3com 3C420 USB HPNA adapter. The dirvers provided on the cd on the cd that came with the unit (which are the ones widely available on the internet) only work in 98/me/2k, and blue screens in xp.
The version of these drivers are 2.29.0.1.
The version of the drivers which work which every OTHER USB HPNA unit in the world are 2.29.0.8. This includes the drivers that windows xp comes bundled with (C:\Windows\inf\netbcm4u.inf).
The line inthe INF, DriverVer=07/01/2001,2.29.0.8, indicates the version.
I would say that im 90% sure that the chipset that is in this 3com unit is the same one that is supported in the 2.29.0.8 driver. The problem is that when i try to use these drivers, windows says that the drivers do not contain information about the 3com unit.
On a side note: i tried emailing HPNA about it, and they said i would have to take it up with 3com. But 3com has discontinued the product, and the only drivers available on the site are version 2.29.0.1.
Is there anyway to append the 3com unit to the 2.29.0.8 driver included with windows?
