Best Buy has the following notebooks 7/21-7/28

$399.99 in my local ad, shows $449.99 online for me AS5050-3785 8397317

Acer
AMD Turion? 64 mobile technology MK-38
1024MB RAM
Vista premium
dual-layer dvd/cd burner
80GB drive
14.1"screen
ATI RADEON XPRESS 1100
integrated wireless
5 in 1 card reader

for $100 more MT6711 8413139. Minimum 7 per store. Shows not available online for me.
Gateway
Intel pentium dual-core
160GB drive
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
15.4" ultrabright widescreen
vista premium
cd/dual-layer dvd burner
card reader
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to split the difference and have one $30 easy rebate, Staples has, for $449.98 AR (shows $504 online but it is on first page of today's circular for $449.99) 703693
Compaq Presario
AMD Athlon Dual-coreTK-53
1024MB RAM
15.4" widescreen
DVD burner
Vista home permium
80GB drive
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150

and the Staples ad says you get an HP printer free after easy rebate with the purchase of this notebook. See store for details. And the ad says you get a $25 dining card with $50 purchase.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're a glutton for rebate punishment, you can get a Lexmark all-in-one printer, D-Link wireless router, CA internet security software, and Verge notebook case all free after rebates with the purchase of a notebook computer at Circuit City. I did a similar deal there and got all of the CC rebates in less than 30 days, no problems.

CC has an Acer AS36802682 for $349.99 after $100 rebate and a Toshiba A135S4677 for $499.99 after $100 rebate.

That Gateway looks nice, but it's not available online (nor for in-store pickup). Does the "minimum 7 per store" mean that B&M stores will stock the notebook?

Yes, at least 7 per store. But then, when they're gone, they're gone.:(

Picked up one of the Gateways this morning for my brother in law. It's a nice machine for the price, and it should do everything he wants.

Picked up the Compaq on my lunch break. I didn't get no HP printer nor the Dining club $25 card. I'm going to call about that. I was able to use a $30 off $150 code. They typed it in and it said something to the effect that it was already used, but I had that page on my Moto Q phone, and showed him the promo code didn't expire until 09/15/07 so he did a manual override to give me the $30 off. I still want the gift card and the free printer....

Oh the Compaq seems decent. Vista Home Premium but it's got loads of crapware preinstalled. Makes me want to wipe the drive and install XP Pro...

Re: the Gateway MT6711 @BB

This deal is somewhat still alive, now they include bundle (notebook case and wireless mouse) for total of 549.00

link Gateway MT6711 Notebook with Wireless Mouse & Notebook Case

Still not a bad deal + you save up to 50.00 on select printers.

Just a heads-up to others that may be interested.

Should add that its for delivery only, but can order online.

I picked up the Acer, It runs great. I uninstalled all the junk that is loaded onto it and turned the Hypercache memory down to 64 from 256 (default). And it is going good. I wish I could find a way to use the Windows Anytime upgrade feature to load Vista Business instead of Home Premium though...

I also will probably throw some more RAM in it. Both RAM slots are taken up but both are easily accessable from the bottom.
