Hello.
I got 2 options to choose from, the primary focus of the computer will be 4K gaming , video encoding and data storage, 4K content creation, 4K movie playback on an additional display while working on the primary display

option 1 : 3930k + intel dx79si - Price 200$
option 2: 7700k + gigabyte z270x ultra - Price 490$

the gpu is gtx1080 in both cases....Personally i want to go with the 3930k save money and invest in a second gtx1080Hello. Then go with option 1. SLI isn't always supported so try going for 1080ti instead of 2x 1080s.

1) Second the vote for 1080Ti instead of dual 1080s (I tried for awhile, but would rather not deal with the hassle of a multi-card setup)

2) Overclock the sh*t out of that 3930K, pocket the $200, and get a couple of lapdances. Ryzen 7 (max OC 3.8 - 4GHz) is debatable against a highly OCed 3930K since its IPC is in the range of IVB - Haswell and it only has 2 more cores than the 3930K. I have a 3960X @ 5GHz and it is still the fastest thing around my place, even compared to a pair of X5690s.

For the money, the 3930K + cooler so you can OC it...

What applications will you run? If your application can take advantage of 6 cores, 12 threads, then it's likely the 3930K will come out ahead of the 7700K... especially after OC.

An oc'd 3930K is as fast or faster than a stock 6800K. I say go for it.

I ran a 3930k and even overcooked. The 1700x at 3.9 runs literal circles around it both in IPC and mt.

Bad recommendation. Ryzen is only onpar with Sandy Bridge in games. If one wants that kind of performance, he/she could've gotten it many years ago.

If your just gaming... 7700k hands down. If you want multithreaded heavy work load capacity with power then a ryzen 7 series. Although I cant remember if 3930k was limiting or not. I had a 980ti on mine and it seemed the gpu was always at 99% so the cpu didn't seem like it mattered.

But I respectfully disagree with Sandy bridge gaming performance. At first yes but with optimizations to games and Windows after the last few months the gap closed a lot more than not. There is substantial evidence supporting so.

I'm really sorry you can't buy a Ryzen man. :( Would have been just what you needed.
In which country do you live?

He could always negotiate an American buy and ship him one. If he is willing to pay for shipping and gas in my car for the driving etc.. and send me the money I would gladly get him a Ryzen and ship it.

i went with a gigabyte z270x ultra and a 7700k and 16gb vengeance led thanks all

You will be very happy with that build. The 7700 is probably best gaming CPU as long s games are quad core or less in threads. 4 years from now we might have ganes with 16 thread optimizations the way the Amd autobots and intel decepticons are battling it out ha ha
