3870 X2 pics

Check out the dual retention brackets on the back of the card. Curious if it uses seperate copper heatsinks or one big one. It looks like all memory is located on the back of the card. No heatsinks..
 
I have a feeling this will be the card to unseat the GTX and Ultra. At least until the new GTX comes out and the R700.

Wonder if this will *scale* any different than the HD 3870's in Crossfire ?
 
Yea you're probably right. A single X2 should be able to pull it off, especially with matured drivers and spec tuning. If it comes out by April, it will likely dethrone the boss...
 
Do not be fooled by the huge PCB!!

Anything that requires SLi/CrossFire is not a single-card solution.

I was thinking that the X2 should have at least the performance of CF'ed 3870's. But then again, nVidia lowered the clocks of the chips and memory used on their 7950GX2 vs. the high end SLi-capable card (7900GTX), so how do we know ATI will not do the same?
