Well, the NDA doesn't lift until midnight tonight . . .

Why are reviews up if the NDA has not yet lifted?

I guess some sites will be ignored by ATI the next time...

Different time zones?? Or is that accounted for in the NDA??

wait so the NDA lifts at midnight? midnight at which time zone? or is at dependant on the timezone of the reviewing website's main location (IE, a chinese website goes by china's timezone, an American one by central time, etc).

Anyways, any links for any reviews yet?

Not all sites are bound by NDAs.

The Inquirer is stating a revised launch date of Monday:
http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/...8/01/22/3870x2-delayed

Sources claim AMD delayed the release by a week so the 3870X2, 3650 and 3450 will all be launched together on the 28th in one big benchmarkfest.

The reason NDA'd reviewers and editors are miffed is that they received their samples last Friday, spent a weekend benchpressing the cards and now they have received a postponement call from DAAMIT explaining they are working on new drivers for the cards.

Also, Anandtech is delaying their performance numbers of 34x0/36x0 for a hard launch.

:(

Its not a paper launch if the release date hasnt even been here yet. It was pushed back as the above post shows till the 28th... This news came out yesterday, before this post was made. Some people are just too anxious to slam ATi.

It was obviously an honest mistake. I read some reviews, saw some discussions, and figured the card was already released, so I went looking for the 3870 X2 prices online. Nothing. So I asked if it was a hard launch or a paper launch. nVidia has gotten pretty close to paper launches lately...without much (if any) comment by reviewers. I had an MSI 8800GT on backorder for weeks before finally cancelling it and getting interested in the upcoming 3870 X2.

It was pushed back as the above post shows till the 28th...
I was the one who found that today and posted it here.

This news came out yesterday, before this post was made.
Which automatically meant I knew about it yesterday?

Some people are just too anxious to slam ATi.
...or to slam the OP, apparently.

And some are quite anxious to defend as well. So you provide the "equalibrium".
So you counteracted any damage. No worries.

A little OT: Very nice pic of you and your wife. But do you have any pictures of you actually smiling? I have seen many of your pics that you have posted in your sig, but you never quite get a smile going. Almost crack one, but not quite. :)

Sorry for the OT.

It was interesting reading some games there was a 90% advantage over a single 3870 and in one case the advantage over an Ultra was 9%. Hmm, I wonder if some more driver tweaking was in order? In a comparison to 8800gt sli it seemed on par or slightly better, Crysis gave it some headaches but they stated that it was the fault of the game. They seem to infer that some titles were optimised better than others.

I think the whole reason for the delay is driver tweaks. 1 week is no big deal. At least we know when instead of a vague time frame. This card, like all SLI/Crossfire solutions, will have it's highs and lows. Unavoidable. Worst case scenario, you'll have slightly better than a single 3870, and best case, twice that. Just a matter of which one and how often and in which games you play. LOL.

Here's what happened Link.

Still driver issues. Apparently they can get better results in Crysis than with currrent drivers.

That's what I figured. I'd rather have a review with the best drivers currently possible anyway. There are bound to be glitches. No big deal.

Quick question:

When these cards come out, which places have the best chances to have the 3870 X2 for sale, in stock, and with decent prices?

Some people got 8800GTs in their hands shortly after launch day (before they started REALLY going out of stock and the prices naturally shot way up) while others like me had preorders that slowly turned into backorders with no real ETA.

I want to avoid this with the 3870 X2...IF I decide to get one...

Any suggestions?

I got a 3870 on launch day from NCIX but I'm in Canada and had it within 2 days. There's also NCIXUS that you could try as well.
