Well, I currently am using an ATI 3870, got my hands in an 8800GT. Without fanboy remarks which card is better overall? My only issue with my 3870 is that it's the version that sucks air into the case as opposed to blowing the heat out. Need to know if its worth dismantling my tower to pop in the 8800GT or if I should just sell the 8800.

+1

3870 is about equal to 9600GT, both of which are about 10% slower than 8800GT.

Would that pump the 5.1 ac3 info? I use the HDMI for my HDTV and hi-fi. Not just for video.

Nope it won't.

Guess you're stuck with that HD3870 hehe. It's not a bad card, you wouldn't rly notice the difference between it and a 8800gt.

I think the 3xxx series can do it do but only 5.1 IIRC while 4000 can do 7.1. Don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure you can do audio on the 3000 series as well though.
