I am considering upgrading my 1900XTX card to either a 3870 or 4870. I have my eye on a 126$ MSI 3870 (open box)

I could get the 3870 and have one in each machine, then when I up grade I could crossfire two identical cards, or, i could just move the 3870 to my 8400 machine and get a 4870 to run the more taxing games on my quad. If i did two 3870s I could do almost exact comparisons minus the DDR3 vs DDR2; between the quad and dual... which would be kinda interesting and the cheaper route... What do you think?

I play UT3, COD4... I have Crysis, Bioshock (not opened yet, goin on 3months) UT2k4, COD2, and the ususal steam games CS:S, DOD:S, DOD, TF2

Thanks :)

Don't , its waste of money unless you really really want to do it.

Yeah, try to pick up a 4850 if you can. You won't regret it. I had a 9800GX2 and sold it because I assumed(I know, I know) the GTX 280 would be a much better card. Bought a 280....decent minimum frame rates...but it just wasn't what I expected. Sent it back and bought two HD4850's to hold me over for a couple of months(4870X2 CF ;) ). I've got them vmodded and running at 925MHz gpu/2400MHz mem. These cards are insane for the price!
