Freezer 64 Pro is my pick. I have one for my AM2 system and even when overclocked to 2.66 GHz it runs very cool (idles in low 30C, loads in low 40C range). Yes, you could pay more for a Scythe Ninja or any other other coolers out there, but if you're not into heavy overclocking and just want something quiet that'll cool down your CPU, then the Freezer 64 is perfect. In all reality, the difference between a Freezer and say, a Ninja is only a few degrees.

Freezer should do that if you use the MX-1 thermal paste with it. What voltage are you doing? I have my chip at 242*11 (2.66 GHz) and 1.34V, it idles in the low 30 celsius range.

Also make sure you turn Cool and Quiet on in windows control panel under power management. Set it to "minimal management" to let your CPU idle at like 1 Ghz. You might want to download RMClock so you can play with the voltages for C&Q. I have my CPU set up within RMClock so that it idles at 968 MHz and uses 0.9V of power, and that helps with the temps.

I don't recommend C&Q if you're running a multi other than stock. At least on my system, I was running 9x270 (x2 3800+ on A8N-SLI Premium) and when I enabled C&Q, it assumed a 10x multi at full load. My 9x270 overclock turned into a 10x270 at C&Q's discretion. Not good.

well after checking out the temps again i see it at 44c idle, 50c doing lite stuffs and 57c under full load. is that too hot?
