Question 3800Mhz RAM with Ryzen 2000 CPUs? Is it possible?

Hey guys, I've seen on DRAM calculator for Ryzen that it allows me to select up to 3800MHz for the RAM frequency (any higher than that and the program says "Error not supported"), but at that value it gives me the RAM settings for a Ryzen 2600 processor on a B450 MB.

Is this high OC even possible, because on the MBs page it shows 3466MHz as the max OC for Ryzen+?

I'd like to know beforehand so that I don't try above 3466MHz OC. I don't want to waste my time or worse, damage the MB/BIOS/RAM.

It looks like the highest OC on Ryzen 2000s in that list is 3733MHz, so I guess it's possible above 3466MHz. It also depends on the RAM kit and MB.

I don't think I've read of anyone running daily-driver RAM speeds on Zen+ CPUs (2nd-Gen Ryzen / 2000-series), above around 3400 speeds. Although I am able to run 3600 speeds on an R5 3600 CPU (Ryzen 3000-series), even with all four DIMM slots filled. (Fairly slow timings thought, CAS 18-22-22-xx.)

Well, depending on how good the OC will be I won't just stay on a higher OC if it's slower than a lower OC. And even if it's a little better, but too hot and power hungry I'd prefer a lower OC than that.

Next week my ordered parts should arrive so I'll see then what kind of performance I can get.

I knew that since Ryzen 2 came out, but even if my kit can do beyond that frequency and that's a big IF I'd still like to try it and see for myself the difference in performance.

But to be fair I'd be happy with 3466MHz with good timings on Ryzen 2600 OC.

I just bought a 2700x with g skill Ripjaw V 3600mhz memory but I am unable to go above 3533 mhz using the xmp settings. At 3600, the system will boot but it will crash if I try to run a game like overwatch after a few minutes. I'm not even sure if it's rock solid at 3533 since I haven't stress tested it at that level. I'm not sure if the problem is the Ram or if the Ryzen Pinnacle Ridge just really isn't capable of higher memory speeds than this.

Looking at that spreadsheet, I see a lot of people with 3600 memory kits that are running at lower speeds than 3600. Of the 29 entries with the text "3600" in the memory name, only 7 run at memory speeds of 3600 or above. It seems like the Trident Z and the Patriot Viper are the most represented but the sample size is not really big enough to conclusively say that those brands are the best.

One person with ripjaw 3200 could run only at 3066. A different person with my same MB could run his ripjaw 3200 at 3600 with cas 14??

This. You need 3rd-Gen Ryzen 3000-series CPUs to run DDR4-3600 and above clock speeds.
