3800+ X2 Temps

Is it max SAFE temp, or max before damage?

I believe the Althon XP's used to be like 91C before damage started to occur.
 
it should be max safe temp...IMO you should not even risk running anywhere near max before dmg...running it near max temp before dmg would severely cut down on your cpu's life, just keep it under 60C and you should be fine

I think 60 is a good max also... I'm still wondering why AMD set the 3800 X2 to 71, when it is the same core as the other Manchesters, and should run cooler at default..


Perhaps they have done further testing, and decided 71 is max for the manchester, and are not bothering to change the published spec for the 4200+, etc...


Added:
I'm trying to get something on paper to back this up, but I believe this ' Max Case ' temp, is what is programmed into the CPU as the shutdown temp.. Which would mean they have programmed the 3800 higher, and it will go past 65 ( to 71 ) before shutting down..
