38 year old best selling author passes away.

We have a rule in my family where we always required 2 able-bodied adults or young adults when swimming or hiking because of something similar that happened to our neighbor growing up. That, and the whole Aron Ralston story. Really sad all the way around 🙁

I've got "Between a Rock and a Hard Place," Ralston's autobiographical account right beside me. I was re-reading a passage a few days ago. He's very intelligent, and the book is extremely well written. I read it before seeing the movie.

I'd never heard of Jodi Arias before spotting this thread less than an hour ago. I just read an account of of her relationship with Alexander, the murder and aftermath. True crime stories are often very fascinating. I'm sure that Dostoevsky felt the same way. Of course, Alexander made a big mistake when he didn't cut her off completely instead of still having occasional sex with her after breaking up. He knew it was risky. Well, you can't expect a guy who would have a relationship he believed to be wrong for him in the first place to act rationally.
