Saw this at compgeeks. Grade B refurb.

I'm waiting on a Thinkpad 600e from the forums here. Still think I got a good deal, but I admit that had I seen this first I would have had to think a while.

Not really hot.....

If you are going to use this machine for any type of work at all really you need more than the 64 MB they have installed. To add another 256 MB PC100 from Crucial is gonna cost around $110. Battery is not guaranteed, and there is no OS...

Actually this deal is cold.

I work with IBM laptops all the time.

The IBM A20 series....22e, 20m, 20p, etc are crap.

All of them in our fleet failed within 2years....lcd's, motherboards, even the body falling apart.

Out of about 100 A series bought new, only a few are runnign after 2 years.....too bad my company only got the 1yr warranty on these....

new cheap lappy with OK config... try the dell Inspiron 1100 for $600 in Dell Small Business instead of going thru old crap!

Problem is that there are some linux compatability issues with the Dell 1100, especlially with ACPI. I have heard too that Inspirons aren't built that well. Nevertheless there are some damn good deals on them, would be fine for running xp, and should last at least a year then sold without loosing much of the investment.

For my light use I think I'll be happy with the ThinkPad 600e I'm getting

Well you can get a T22 with 900 MHz P III 128 MB ram and dvd-rom for about 600.00 shipped with 90 day warranty

Where? If you can't post a URL, please PM me.

I use an A22p as one of "daily, heavy use" machines and love it. I had the chance to get a new T30 in the latest round of purchasing and held on to this one 😱 I just couldn't give up the 15" 1600x1200 screen.

Dude where do you work... Where I work, we have been using IBM's for 4-5 years now, and we are just now auctioning and selling of the old i1400 series (the ones with the wings on the display, ie speakers).
We purchase maybe 30 a year, and out of those 30, maybe one or two are actually bad.
Granted where I work at is a total office enviroment, but many of our users travel out of the state at least once or twice a month.
I have an A22m that I have had since I been here at work for almost 3 years.

I have to say that IBM, in my mind, builds the best corporate grade notebooks when compared to the mac knock offs that dell puts out, and the flimsy floppy junk that Toshiba puts out.

Now their desktops and flat screen pc's... leave much to be desired, but their notebooks are very solid.

Ooops sorry about that.

The deal is going on at overstock.com Till recently (yesterday) they had the T21 for 599.00 but guess they are all gone.

Currently they have the above mentioned T22 for 699.00, go to the FAT site and get a 10% off linky and use 4.4 % fatcash and you can get it for around 600. Good deal cuz the T series are built like a tank and yeah you get a 90 day warranty too, if you run into any problems.

I was about to jump on these when the T41 deal surfaced.

My main justification is that IBM laptops generally don't depreciate as others do. Also as the T41's retail for about 2K, I can think about getting at least half of it back in say 2 years time. More so with the 3 year warranty its a great buy.
