I remember my 2500k drawing 130 watts at 4.5 ghz but the 3770k only draws 70 watts at 4.2 ghz or even 4.5 ghz. And the temperature is low. It never exceeds 65° C. The overclock is stable ( 100 IBT maximum level and results are right, 24 hours prime 95 small fft). Am i worriying for nothing ?

Sorry for my english. Thanks

I'm really not sure what it is you're worried about. Ivy Bridge is built on a smaller process and uses significantly less power. As I understand, the number you're looking at is calculated by CoreTemp based on the VID and clock, but it doesn't take into account leakage and other losses, so it's a low estimate, but even if it were much higher, I dunno why one would worry if everything is stable.

Yeah, with a KillaWatt, my 3570k would only show a 65w difference between sitting idle at the desktop and running Prime95.

Some chips are better than others. 🙂
