The power numbers were leaked a few days ago but this is the first I've seen with regards to the weight, ~3200lbs - not too shabby.

Didnt expect a carbon fiber driveshaft, looks like nissan was serious about cutting weight. Wonder how much it'll cost.

wow, the carbon fiber driveshaft surprises me - as most manufacturers of CF driveshafts do not recommend them for daily driving. They are very brittle and can crack from a simple stone chip leading to total failure. They must have a full underbody on this car to protect it.

I believe this is a huge myth, they're different levels of carbon fiber, from the cheap stuff simple weaved stuff you see in your interiors trim to the super expensive stuff they use is F1.

They even have some forms of CF that can bend to a 90 degree angle and snap back into shape.

A little less power than what was expected. Why don't they have a true dual exhaust on it? I suspect that is going to be a popular mod for the cars.

It's supposed to be in the same price range as the new Evo/STI, mid-high 30's which is ridiculous. Yes I know the older Z's like the 300zx were expensive but they performed awesome. This should perform well but still, you can get better or similar performance for cheaper or just a little more.

According to the newer PDFs I posted up:

Solidifying the strengths of its immediate predecessor, the new 370Z was conceived as an ?Everyday Sports Car,? targeting segment-leading performance and a base MSRP of around $30,000 (final performance figures and pricing to be available at a later date).

Hmm I guess they lowered the price. From the initial reports earlier it was supposed to start at around 36k. That's a good thing then.

huge myth? its a characteristic of CFRP that it can really only be strong in compression and tension. It is terrible for anything subject to bending.

O'RLY?
Bike builders have been using bending properties of CF to optimize ride comfort and even implement rear suspension on bikes for years.

Thanks for posting a picture with no explanation of anything -- I really cant comment further because you really havent put forward anything.

Nissan's pricing on the 350Z is nutty. You can get them anywhere from ~$30k base, all the way into the $40k range, just in options/Nismo crap. It would be okay, but everyone has been screaming for a better motor option / turbo / supercharger, to no avail.

The new power numbers aren't awe-inspiring, but should help answer the wish for a better performing Z car.

lowered?
350z started selling for $26k when introduced, and crept up to $28k base price. nissan wanted to keep the base price slow so most were guessing it would be a few g's within the 350z price.

It's a Cannondale Scalpel mountain bike where CF bends to the extent shown to provide rear suspension travel. Anyways, 350Z has had a carbon fiber driveshaft since 2003 model, so it's nothing new, and obviously Nissan has figured out how to do this reliably.

You know, I was thinking with GM needing the money bad, why doesn't Nissan buy some LS7s and make a 700Z, now that would be a riot.

LOL :) That would be epic. Of course, you can't out-Vette a Vette, AFAIK.

why don't they try to tweak it to make more up than the g37? It'll sure help selling the car.
