3700+ Upgrade to X2?

Thinking about a CPU upgrade, last one for 939. thinking about a higher end X2, maybe even 4800, comp in sig. Suggestions?

No X2 is worth it over $200.

I'd pick up a X2 3800 or X2 4200+ and overclock.

Minimal/negligible difference at stock between a 4800+ and 4200+ anyway

Between a 3700+ and an X2? Absolutely.

Just don't expect a boost in performance in single-threaded, single-task enviroments.

More cache... 10% difference in the best case scenario. (and that's being generous)

Nothing an extra 200MHz wont surpass. (No risk, it'll do it with stock vcore, I'm sure)

In single threaded apps which includes the majority of games a 4400+ will be equal to a 3700+, but you will see a big increase in multi-tasking abilities and multi-threaded apps like video encoding with the 4400+

I just went from a 3700+ to an X2 4200+. WOW!!!!

As Ben Stiller said in Starsky and Hutch, "Dooo it. Dooooo it. Doooo iiiiit!!!"

I'm running gobs of Firefox pages, Visual Studio 2005, Outlook 2003, ActiveSync, and then playing FEAR with all the options on, all at the same time. Whooo Haaaaa!

This proc seems to say, "Just Bring It."

Now, go get one. mwave.com.

I'm running gobs of Firefox pages,

I think you'd have more issues with RAM doing that given the damn memory leak they still haven't fixed in Firefox.

Well I got me some Corsair XMS 2GB sticks so the Firefox memory leak be damned!
