Currently I am running an Intel 3.2ghz processor with 1gb of Corsair TWINX1024-3700PT memory. I hope I word this right, but my memory is oc'd and stable for over a year now at 225 (yielding a 900mhz FSB) and the processor is running at 3.6ghz. I wanted to move up to 2GB of RAM, mainly for Battlefield 2. I cannot find the same Corsair Memory that I have purchased before from ZipZoomFly.com. I have found it on some off the wall websites but they want close to $400 for 1gb (2x512mb pair). I found the Patriot memory on ZipZoomFly and it's the same timing 3-4-4-8 as my Corsair and these are a matched pair as well. (link: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=83746) they have it listed for $135.00. I normally do not like to mix and match memory brands due to incompatablities and such and with my overclocking I want my pc to stay at it's oc'd speed and have compatable memory. My questions are:
1.) Will the Patriot memory work? Or should I get 2 sets of Patriot for 2gb and sell my Corsair?
2.) Can I use Corsair TWINX1024-4000PT (link: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=85017-15)
3.) Should I try to match the Corsair 3700 at 3-4-4-8 with the Patriot 3-4-4-8 or match the Corsair 3700 3-4-4-8 with the Corsair 4000 3-4-4-8, or do I need to get all new memory?
I know number 3 is a combo of 1 and 2 but I really want this to work and not buy something incompatable. The main reason for doing this is because of Battlefield 2. The load times suck in the game on my system. My friend who has a Gateway 3.4ghz with PC3200 memory went from 1GB to 2GB and now he loads the game MUCH faster than myself. He is usually in the game and doing stuff (like flying around) a good 15-30 seconds faster than I am. My system is faster, my FSB is faster, we have the same graphics card (mine is AGP his is PCI-E, ATI X850XT) and he has a single SATA HD and I have 2 SATA HD's setup in a striping raid (Raid 0). I definately want to be able to load as fast as him as we often like to get the jump on a helicopter/tank/airplane.
I personally never thought I would see a difference between 1gb of ram to 2gb of ram, has anyone else done this sort of upgrade and yielded positive results?
Sorry for the long post and thank you for any help!
