Anyone using this as a computer monitor?

Sounds like a good deal if it will work with a DVI connector on a video card.

Anyone have experience with this? I prefer the 16:9 ratio over 16:10 that all computer monitors use as well. (1920x1080 vs. 1920x1200) The pixel pitch is probably a little on the large side (comparable to 19" 1280x1024 tallscreen?) but the size at 37 inches! :shocked:
 
I have a Westinghouse 32" LCD TV. Its great for movies and TV with the DVI connector, but it seems too big for a TV monitor.
 
Pixel size will be a problem imo unless you sit quite far from it.

It will be godo for movies at a distance but for an every day monitor? Hmmm....

I have a 23" Sony LCD that runs 1920x1200. Looks great for pc use and movies. Small pixel size so I sit close to it.

Make sure it can actually run 1920x1080 via it's DVI FROM a graphics card.

Go hook up a laptop and have a play at the store.

Yes I may have to try this out.

No problem running at 1920x1080 with customized display profiles.

I will use this as a movie editing station so it should be fine.

That and solitaire.

I use a 2405 and it's too small and the wrong aspect ratio.

Didn't like the 30" Mac for this application as well. (similar reasons as above with less configurability)

1920x1080 is the desire resolution and it has it. Cheap too! As long as the DVI works (VGA would be terrible LOL) we should be golden.
 
I have actually been considering doing the same thing, but I really want 16:10 - I intend to multi-table poker sites & 1200 vertical pixels is pretty much a requirement.

With a little experimentation you can find out what the equivalent resolution would be on your current display & see how you like it (be sure to account for viewing distance too).

For example, on my 21" CRT (19.8 visible) the equivalent would be roughly 952x714.

IMO if you're going to spend $2K on a PC monitor you can likely afford $3K, & then the 30" Cinema Display is a much nicer option. 2560x1600. Yummy.

Or if you can't afford $3K then two 2405's or similar would be better IMO.
