I just got a 74GB raptor a week or so ago. To be honest I would save your money and get a 7200RPM drive. The only time I can really feel a differnece is when I'm loading HL2 or The Sims 2.

Thats a very good reason for me, I want to be first on the map!!!
but in real world applications the performance is MUCH closer.

Dont get the Diamond max 10. YOu need an Alderwood or Grantsdale (915 or 925) series chipset or an Nforce 4 board to use the feature that speeds them up so much; NCQ (Native Command Queing).
THe Seagate Barracudas are definately some of the best series drives out there right now.
