The XBOX remote uses IR
The link I posted is for an IR Remote with an IR USB Reciever.
The adapter you posted is an RF receiver for the Gamepad

You don't really even need the remote that comes in the link I posted, you can use your XBOX remote, or a programmable remote ( Harmony) if you like.

That is, however the only place I know of to get a *reasonably priced* USB IR receiver for your Windows PC. The remote is actually pretty decent for Media Center too..

It appears my PC has a built in infrared receiver, so all I need is drivers of some sort?

I'm actually pretty certain the Microsoft 360 Windows receiver will work with the remote....but yes, drivers become a challenge.

You would need some software that was aware of the inputs and some that could translate the signals into macros to actually do anything.
