360 video freezing issue?

Ok so I've only seen this problem happen to me 3 times since I got my 360 in early november and it's seemingly completely random.

I will be playing a game normally or watching video and the screen will freeze with a strange pastel green and white vertical bar image and the background image will be all pixelated and distorted. It also emits a high pitched sound out of the speakers when this happens. I cannot get the the xbox to bring up the menu (video is frozen but I would be able to hear the menu sound effect I think?) but the audio of whatever I was playing sometimes plays or sometimes doesn't.

The only fix I found was to just simply turn off the TV and turn it back on, that seems to fix it right away. Is this something any of you have seen? Do you think it's the TV or the 360? I ask because the 360 has a much longer warranty than the TV and if its the TV I want to get it replaced immediately. TV is a 40in Toshiba 1080p LCD (i can get exact model if nec).

My gut says its the video card on the xbox glitching out or some other software issue on the xbox but why does turning off the TV solve it? I also figure if the TV was the issue that it would stay permanently fucked up but I really dont know.

help plz 🙂
 
It is possible that it is related to the other issue you are having, which is evidently due to NXE borking things. I would try another HDMI 1.3 cable just for trouble shooting purposes though.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I'm using component video because HDMI is fucked up.
 
Hmmmm, OK, but I'm thinking it still has to be the TV. If the 360 was malfunctioning, I can't see how powering the TV off and on would fix it. Perhaps it is a timing issue or something? Anyways, since it rarely happens, I wouldn't be too worried. It might be a good idea to post over at xbox-scene.com and see if anyone has a solution, or at least an answer as to what is happening.

I was thinking it was a handshake issue with the TV in the sense that turning off the output source and turning it back on causes the xbox to reset what it's sending. Can a TV just freeze like that? You would figure it would be the source?
 
anyone? that xbox-scene site seems to move like molasses though I'll post over there if I don't hear anything here.
