LMAO

EA?s new Need for Speed Shift is the most bug-ridden piece of code I have witnessed in recent times. But when the Xbox 360 version seemed to want to access the Playstation Store today, things had clearly gone too far.

I?m a complete sucker for racing games, so when I heard that EA were transforming the latest installment in the Need For Speed series into a hardcore sim, I was very pleased indeed.

But after shelling out the equivalent of $70.00 to get my hands on it, i?m very disappointed. I mean, really EA, this game is not even finished. The list of serious bugs being reported by customers is embarrassing and it has crashed on me at least a dozen times.

But this could be the most embarrassing fail of all.

When navigating menus today while connected to Xbox Live the game suddenly crashed again. When my rage had subsided and I got a better look at the screen, I was pretty shocked at what I saw.

Was my Xbox 360 version of Need for Speed Shift really trying to access the Playstation Store? Microsoft are not going to be happy about this.

With the right patches this game could be great, let?s hope they don?t take too long.

How do bugs like this not get into the reviews? All I've seen is how awesome the game is, but nothing about how bug ridden it is... those reports only surface after people get their hands on it =/

fwiw i had no bugs at all on 360, so maybe that's how bugs don't get into reviews, it doesn't happen to everyone

oh wait i had one once where the race started with a black screen, and pausing and unpausing fixed it

Strange a bug like that exists, and that apparently not everyone gets it (or else it would have been discussed like mad by now). I wonder if its only from certain locations in the menu that that can happen, or for certain cars.

Regardless, the PS3 version had the damage bug, 360 has this, PC version has ATI issues... they really screwed the development pooch with this one. But it does seem like it was possibly developed with the PC as the lead platform, with a friendly UI.

Hopefully Slightly Mad Studios will take this engine (it better be SMS's engine) and make a non NFS sim game sometime in the future.
Because apparently SimBin wants to take forever bringing the "Lizard" engine to the PC, of which was used it in RacePro on the 360, hopefully the physics can be improved as many have stated it wasn't very good compared to other SimBin games, and even then... SimBin's greatest hit was the GTR series, developed by people who are now under SMS. And GTR Evolution, an expansion for the Race series, wasn't exactly as fondly cherished by sim fans as GTR2.

Is this guy sure he's not playing the PC version? That's gaming today. You're paying $70 for the "privilege" of being a beta tester.

there a bug in the game in one of the international events ford gt vs the dodge viper, if you choose the viper, when the light turns green the car won't go. It'll just sit there and rev it's engine.

Oops EA!!
I'm done with this game, the car bounce and rear end bugs got the best of me and I just can't play it anymore. Forza pre-order, here I come. Should've done that in the first place.

What is everyone having so much trouble with in this game?

I've played over 200 races and a couple of online races, and the only problems I've had was a black screen at the beginning of a race, and one race where I didn't have rumble. No lockups, no freezes, no cars stuck, etc.

I'm gathering, that most of the people complaining about the handling are playing with a controller with the experienced driving level. Well stop. I did the same thing, and generally, the controller is way too sensitive for it. Experienced is designed for a wheel. I switched it back to normal with some assists, and the game is 10x better now.

The level of assists has absolutely nothing to do with game-breaking bugs like the invitational event where the Dodge Viper or Corvette won't move when the light turns green, or how sometimes the race will start with a black screen and you have to pause and go to Restart to get it working, or how sometimes the game will simply crash for no apparent reason. Luckily I haven't run into problems with "car bounce" or anything, but from reading others' reports, it sounds like an obvious bug and not simply people being frustrated with the game's controls.

There are ways to adjust the steering controls to make it much easier to control. Someone posted them here: http://forums.xbox.com/29123795/ShowPost.aspx

I'm still waiting for the demo before I even consider dropping $60 for this, but all the bug reports and less-than-sim gameplay comments have really been making it hard to maintain interest.

Are there any plans at all for a demo?

It's fun but I wish I had waited for it to drop in price (which I predict it will do, precipitously, in a few months).

So you guys aren't seeing the car bounce, as in the rear end just starts bouncing and steps out hard, when you're going around corners sometimes? From lap to lap the location will differ, so it's not an imperfection with the track or anything(which would be dumb if they put giant potholes in the track). No other way to describe it, the car just bounces the rear, and you can't control the car at all when it does it so it puts you in the gravel.

Or when you have a giant lead with no on in sight behind you and you come into a slow speed corner and it "feels" like someone just rammed you from behind. Like literally, your back end lifts off the ground and kicks sideways like someone just smoked you.

Those two things make it unplayable anymore for me, I thought I could put up with them but as you go into higher tiers and faster cars, its even more frustrating.

Yea, but most people who complain about handling just need to change their assists.

For the record, I got the black screen once, and it wasn't a big deal. Also, I haven't had any problems in that viper race, even after choosing the viper.
