360 RRODs..4/09 Poll

Im curious for the people on here that game on the 360. How many times you guys had to warranty your system and ultimately if you sold the refurb for a newer model.

Recently theres been tons of deals on the refurbs($100-$200), even microsoft warrantied ones, and its tempting. The main decision is if its worth it or not, or ultimately shelling out the extra cash for the newer models.

RROD x2, fixed it myself x2, it was a moded xbox so couldn't send it back

1st fix x clamp lasted for about 1 1/2 years

2nd fix i learned i did not do the 1st xclamp fix properly, did it right this time and added an extra fan.

so option for fixed it myself should be added specially in this forum

I had sent in two for RRoD, but both were toweled by me. No way I was paying $100 for them to fix my disc drive. I helped inflate the RRoD numbers. >_< My 3rd console is still running great. Although, I do only play maybe once a week. Far too many PC games backlogged for me to stop and turn on the old Xbox.

My main 360 has been replaced twice. The 360 in my bedroom hasn't broken.

I took it back to Costco both times it broke, so I got the latest hardware.

I had one 360 die on me but it wasn't a RROD. Sent it in and they sent me a brand new fresh off the asembly line 360, it was 2 weeks old when it arrived.

As a precaution I'm selling my current 360 (which, granted, has never given me a lick of trouble) as I just picked up a Jasper model.

I will say though, I have two friends who are on #6 and #8 respectively, and I don't think either of them have played as much as I do. I don't think their 360's are as well ventilated as mine is though (one's in an open front entertainment center, don't know about the other though).

No RRoD yet, but I've only had it since Nov. 2008 (Falcon).

Zero RRODs here. I've had mine since September of 2007, and it was the first Pro model to come with HDMI. It uses the old Elite motherboard (Zephyr?)

It is starting to experience some random and intermittent lag/freezing up for a few seconds, so we shall see what happens!

Two RROD's here. One was in our family room in an open-style TV stand, while the other was practically in a server room with optimal A/C, dust control, etc. The second one ***NEVER*** should have had problems. The first one shouldn't have, either, for that matter.

I have a launch xbox and am afraid to answer your poll for fear of jinxing myself. I'll let you be the judge as to which answer I would choose if I were not superstitious.

Bought a 360 about a year ago. I believe it is a "Falcon" revision. No problems with the console itself, but the power brick died a few months after I got it. And unlike people with RRODs, they didn't do anything to make things easier for me. I had to mail it in myself and pay shipping, and it took three fucking weeks to get it back. No prepaid coffin for me.

I narrowly avoided the RRoD myself, though I unintentionally screwed a buyer as a result. I had a launch 360 that worked perfectly for nearly two years, but I then received a Falcon based Elite and decided to sell the launch system.

I found a buyer and shipped it off. Then about a week after the buyer got the system it RRoD'd. He contacted me to let me know and I confirmed that it had shown no signs of heading that way previous to me shipping it off. I felt really bad. I guess the process of shipping the system put it on the RRoD path. Thankfully the buyer took my word and didn't press the issue. It was still under warranty so he was able to ship it off to get fixed.

Anyway, I answered "0" for the first question, but it's basically pure luck that I wasn't able to answer 1 as my original system did RRoD, but not until I sold it.

Woot had a refurbed 360 Pro for $144.95 yesterday. It was a pretty sweet deal, but sold out within hours.

Launch day 360, sent in once last year for RROD. I received my original back and not a refurb - serial number, several "marks" I had on the system matched what I sent. Plus no need to renew or redo anything once I plugged the HD back in.

I've been happy with it. Sucks that some people have had to deal with this over and over again, I feel for them.

That's the thing about design flaws... they shouldn't exist, but they do.

Geeks.com has refurb elites for $219. If you want a bigger HDD it's a sweet deal, if not then the cheaper Pro is the way to go.
