Death's embrace claims us all eventually.
Since Mass Effect is coming to the PC, I've decided to wait for Jasper, the "Really Reliable Edition" with 65nm GPU to go with the 65nm CPU in Falcon.
Shrinking the CPU and RAM had a big effect on power consumption, so along with fewer redrings it might also tame the noise a bit.

What is this Jasper you speak of ? I haven't heard of that.
But if it is going to be another revision of the Box that will be reliable then I will buy one.
I'm in the same boat as you. My 12/05 360 bought it on Tuesday. It'll give me more time to spend my other consoles, but I did want to get in some more Culdcept Saga.Originally posted by: PaulNEPats
Mine was a launch system, so I knew it was inevitable. Sucks though... I had just received Lost Odyssey today, get ready to fire it up, and bam... RROD.

I've heard rumors that 2005 360s get better replacements than the 2006 ones, so we'll see how it works out, I guess.

I've had to replace a 2005 and a 2006. For the 2005, I got a refurb in its place. For the 2006, I got a brand new console.

Lucky you. I got refurbs on both of my systems. Doesn't matter as I'm thinking of, off loading one or both and getting the newer revisions, unless this rumor Opus revision is true then maybe just off load one of them. I could use an hdmi one.

I'm just afraid that now that it isn't red ringing atm, they're going to try and charge me for the repair. I've tried leaving it on for hours on end but none of the problems have occured since it started working again. And it wasn't the AV cable originally, that was one of the first things I checked.
