360, harddrive installed game, slowness

so i just jumped into a 360 the other day. arcade jasper with 120bg hdd. i bought a couple used games to play with the guys at work. i installed gta4 and pgr4 last night to the harddrive to cut down on noise. i played pgr4 single player for about an hour and noticed that at the end of a race, the music and sound effects would get really slow. didnt do it after the first few races but started doing it after playing for a bit. is this normal behavior?? ive not played gta4 since the hdd install yet so dont know if that does it too. also, during the actual racing, it seemed fine except a couple times the music sounded like it was getting some feedback, sorta similar to the noise a cell phone generates when next to a regular telephone, but no slowdowns.

That's wierd. Never heard of that.

I'd say your XBox is dying.

Pretty well anything out of the ordinary that happens to 360s can be attributed to failing hardware. Within the month you will start getting lockups and eventually red rings. Hate to be the bearer, but on my 5th XBox, I like to think I know what I'm talking about. 🙁

Trying clearing your cache anyways. Also, on those 120s, if you have them more than half full they seem to slow the whole NXE/game loading down for whatever reason. That was a good tip I picked up here.

I've heard rumours that some games don't play so well with the hard drive install option, but this was back when the feature was first introduced.

yea some games were designed specifically to run off discs, so they perform worse on the HDD. i know halo 3 has significantly longer load times when installed to the HDD.

i installed sf4 2 days ago to my HDD since that is all I play pretty much. i only have the 20gb hdd though. i haven't noticed any weirdness at all, just that it's quiet when i play.

maybe this just isnt a hdd friendly game then. i played it just as long the night before off the disc and it ran fine. i should hope its not the xbox itselft. geeze, its only a couple days old with like 3 hours of use.

ah, good site. bookmarked. i uninstalled it last night from the hdd and the audio is back to normal. gta4 does load faster. i like that.
