360 gaming on a 22" LCD monitor

Can anyone post pics of their 360 hooked to a 22"? I am thinking about buying a 360 but if it won't look good on a 22" I will have to wait till this Dec when I get a HDTV to buy one. All I got is a 27" tube which is a waste IMO.

I played on a 20" Viewsonic monitor and it was much much better than using a SDTV imo. Just bough a 37" HDTV to play on now though.

I'd get the 360 now and play on the monitor until you can get the HDTV. (Don't forget the MS branded VGA cable).

As long as your sitting relatively close to the 22" monitor, it should be fine.

I don't think you can really judge how good it will look from a photograph... I use mine on a 26" LCD and it's fine. I suspect that the image on a 22" would look approximately 4" smaller diagonally. 😉

I played on a 20" LCD for almost 6 months prior to buying a 42" LCD HDTV. It looked just as fantastic...I just sat a little closer obviously. I used the VGA cable specifically for the best output, but if you're LCD has component, HDMI, DVI (use a HDMI to DVI converter) or VGA in...you should be good. DO NOT USE composite or s-video in...then it really will look crappy.

If its 22" WS make sure you use 1:1 mapping or else itll look pretty bad. I used to play my 360 on my 22" WS and the 360 doesn't support 1680x1050 resolution so it looked pretty bad if I wasnt using 1:1 mapping.

Do all WS support 1:1 mapping? Is that something you enable on the Xbox or the monitor?

Yeah I'm going to be going this route as well. Obviously your Xbox 360 can't play at 1680x1050(assuming that's your native). According to TeamXbox, you should pick the resolution with the highest pixel density from your Dashboard. Your monitor may not accept your desired resolution over VGA, only DVI. This is usually a problem when you're wanting 1080p so I don't think you'll have a problem.

TeamXbox

I was wondering though, if your monitor does not support your desired resolution over VGA but rather DVI, will using a VGA-to-DVI converter resolve this?

Nope. Some of the popular 20", high end ones do. I haven't seen a single 22" that supports 1:1 pixel mapping, but that was 3 months ago. Maybe that's changed.

I gamed on a 20" WS monitor and didn't notic any problems. I just set it to the second highest Res.
