360 Fall Dashboard Update Now Live

First thing I noticed was the snappier interface. Its noticeably faster than it was and that made me immediately happy.

I entered my bio, name and location in there, that was simple and I'm not sure how its going to effect anything. I dig the 'twist' interface.

I've gotta goto work now, but I figured I'd be a good guinea pig.

Xbox.com doesn't appear to have changed at all, removing people's real 'fears' of an immediate social network over there. I cant view friends of friends through it... only though the 360.

I just did the update as well and immediately went to check to see how it played Xvid. Two things you have to watch out for is:

1) When you go to Videos it only shows the videos on the console to start out with. You have to press X to change the source to your computer. Took me a second to figure that out.
2) You have to download another update to play MPEG-4.

I immediately tried an episode of Sanford & Son that I converted last night with Fair Use Wizard and it worked perfectly. Now I need to pick a movie to try.

My second 360 (I'm on my third now..lol) bricked the second I played a game after the big spring dashboard update. I think I'll wait until I finish up Mass Effect before updating the dashboard. Paranoid?? damn skippy hippies!

I doubt it. The updates are generally pretty small, since they're distributed as patches.

I'm almost hoping to get bricked these days - I'm done with Mass Effect, and wouldn't mind a chance at a new HDMI-enabled 360.

Yeah, you are asked to download the additional update when you try to play a MPEG-4 video. It take maybe 30-45secs to navigate the screens that appear and download the update.

Somewhere I read that this update is only 7 MB. shouldn't be any problem at all downloading...

I think that may be the spring update. It was released in May (5).

after the update all i get is the xbox loading icon in the center of the screen on everything but the video and settings tab.

There appears to be a lot of problems now with the update for me and a few other friends playing cod4. System has been freezing up and been really laggy (sending invites/messages/etc). Hopefully it's just because everyone is getting the update. I hope it will smooth out.

We also haven't been able to get into any COD4 matches... unless cod4 is screwed up again like it was saturday and not related to this update.

It's the Saturday issue, it happened to me this morning with not many people online. The new patch should be coming soon which will fix the profile issues which should also fix a bunch of other issues we're experiencing.

Update didn't blow anything for me, thought the waiting sign for a couple of minutes had me a little worried. I love that I can watch my Battlestar Galactica and Dexter on the 360 now, though I may just use the original Xbox anyways.

I play domination, team deathmatch, headquarters, sabotage, search and destroy, team hardcore, basically everything I play team deathmatch a majority of the time, though. I usually have enough friends on that we have to play a lot of ground war. I'm loving the M16 + stopping power + bandolier + deep impact combo. COD4 is such a good game! We need to play sometime, I'll send you an invite if you are on.

I gave up trying to play earlier. It just wouldn't work. We got a good private match going but it was hard to keep it full. It was just too frustrating to have the 360 dash freeze up while trying to send messages/invites in addition to the COD4 server issues.

Bleh, my 2nd 360 is dying already 2 months after purchase. First one red ringed in a month and got returned. This one takes 3-4 power on's to actually turn on and sometimes red rings.
