My buddies Pro RROD'd about a month ago and is getting it replaced via is PRP at Best Buy. He is wanting to upgrade to an Elite, but he's still waiting for them to get them in stock. They got 2 in tuesday, but the manager promised them to other people already.

This is a great setup and worked out well for us. It took about a month to get our gift card but we ended up getting an elite for about $50 out of pocket.![]()

Is there still a reason to get an Elite? Was it a 120Gb HDD and HDMI that made it "elite" or am I missing something else... I don't think I've ever seen one in a store before (didn't really bother looking, but the "Pros" were eas to find).

I waited impatiently for the Elite model because I wanted the latest revision (Zephyr) at the time (April '07) that would hopefully be less vulnerable to RRoDing. So you're right, assuming the comparison is between a base $350 model w/HDMI, the only difference is the HDD size and the exterior color.
I've had about 70-80GB free on my Elite's HDD for quite a while. I should take a look sometime to see how much I really need and how much are just old demos/videos that I haven't gotten to, yet. I'd guess that I'm up to around a GB (about 30 songs @ 30MB per song) just in Rock Band DLC with more coming every week. Regardless, I'm sure I could make the 20GB drive work.

No, they're definitely still in production because the newest ones are now shipping WITHOUT the Forza 2/M:UA games bundled. I remember the "limited quantities" rumor was bandied about along with the rest of the early information on the Zephyr model launch (none of which purbeast0 believed until it was announced, btw).
It does seem like MS has routinely under-supplied retailers with Elites, however. It may have something to do with not being able to put anything BUT the Zephyr or Falcon in them, but I'm just speculating. That seems like it would be a less viable excuse today than it was 5-6 months ago. FWIW, I got mine launch morning back in April and have held it lovingly ever since.

And it's black. I'd pay extra just for that. I can't stand that goofy looking white 360.

Oh right, the "Zephyr" that was suppose to do what the "Falcon" is suppose to do. Completely forgot about that.
