Link - Some 360 owners have been experiencing audio problems via HDMI since the big NXE update. This is supposed to fix it.

Ahh, I was wondering what the update did.

Same here. two happened last night. And when I moved the HD to my other non-networked 360 it did an update on that console as well. So, being it updated a non-networked console it must have also done some sort of HW flash as my networked one received one update, rebooted and got another. The on the other non-networked console it only did one.

Is there any reason to update if I'm not having problems and my Xbox is not online?

I guess the ability to install to the hard drive would be nice.

I returned a 360 after it stoppedputting out audio via hdmi. Turns out my tv needed a reboot. I wonder if it was in part caused by the 360, though?

the fix did not work in my case.

I get audio when the nxe loads, but once in the nxe there is no sound when moving through the menus.

I start a game and get sound during the intro, I begin to play the game and there is no sound.

This all worked prior to the NXE release, then wham, no audio. If I plug the xbox directly into the mixer or the TV itself it works but not when it goes through the powered splitter.

Hmm.. My problem hasn't been no sound, its been that it stops outputting Dolby Digital and reverts to stereo PCM occasionally during games.. Not always though. Can't figure that one out..

I have a similar problem. I am using a Samsung HT-AS720 receiver and I plug everything via HDMI (Xbox -> Receiver -> TV). Randomly when I boot everything up, my receiver will go into Dolby Pro Logic IIx instead of 5.1 surround. I have to go into the xbox system menu and change it from 5.1 -> stereo -> 5.1 for the receiver to recognize surround sound.

But sometimes it will boot up fine and have 5.1 surround recognized from the start.

Also my sound will sometimes cut in and out for a second or two, very randomly. I don't know if it's the xbox or my receiver.
