360 controller turning off - ARGHHH!!!!!!!

Anyone else have this problem? I have it with multiple controllers, and sometimes it happens randomly.

Ill be playing the game, and then my controller just shuts off. The batterys are full, its just some of my controller turn of at the slightest bump.

For example when im playing UFC, i have to spin one of the sticks, and every time i do the controller turns off.

I have no problem with opening my controller and fixing it, but what is the problem here? is it widespread? I know its happened to me on maybe 6-7 different controllers in the past few years.
 
Yep happens to me with one of my controllers pretty frequently. Seems like it's an issue with the battery cartridge not seating properly.

I have a battery pack that does that to me. I keeping thinking to myself to just throw it out but than I forget.
 
I had this happening to various controllers, so I just moved to removing the battery pack and leaving the charging cable plugged in. Now it works as reliably as a wired controller, but I lost the freedom of being wireless, of course.
 
There's gotta be a fix for this problem. Akaik its pretty widespread, and has to do with the battery pack losing contact.

Has no one came out with a modification to fix it yet?

If you are using batteries it's the size of the compartment the batteries are in. Energizer tend to be larger in size than other AA and they work excellently. It also helps to turn vibration off. It will cause the batteries to pop off one of the connectors.

Never had the same issue witht a Charge and Play though. I have two and both work reliably.

So its actually inside the battery pack that is causing the problem? Could fixing the springs inside, or adding some conductive material to make it tighter fix the problem?

I usually buy Duracell, which might explain why they keep turning off.
 
Happens a lot to me as well. I notice if I jar the controller it usually does this. I have yet to find a fix, but its really annoying.

use it to your advantage, every time he gets close to the goal shake your controller so the controller disconnected message pops up. 😎

btw NHL 12' is the best sports game ive ever played. Im not even a big hockey fan, but ive probably spent 80% of my free time playing that game. If you have 4 players its even better. We usually play 2v2 or all 4 on the same team vs the computer.

Not sure never tried. I use a wired controller anyway. It helps in latency but I also am recording gameplay so I am near to the screen.
 
I havent done any modding or anything yet, but i did notice that the actual battery pack makes a difference.

I was using my new silver controller, with the black battery pack on the back. (it was my friends, not sure if black is stock or not) I noticed that the pack was extremely loose, to the point where if i squeezed around the battery pack, i could feel it move around, and it would disconnect from the 360.

I switched it out with a battery pack from a white controller (same batteries) and I played the next 5+ games of NHL without it turning off. I defintley jerked the controller around quite a bit, so i dont think it was a result of me being gentile with it either.

Which contact points actually matter of the back of the controller? If there is something to be modded, i want to make sure im going about it the right way.

is it just this little contact on the back?:

Or is the the springs that connect to the battery?

In the case of a rechargeable battery pack, it has to be those contacts on the back:

Going to get a rechargeable to see which works better.
