360 battery pack THINKS it's fully charged

So the rechargeable battery pack on my 360 is acting weird. When I plug in the controller the light turns red indicating it's charging, then not 10 seconds later it turns great signaling a full charge. When I unplug it, the controller dies a few seconds later. I can't get the thing to charge anymore. I don't think I've used it enough to warrant it dying from just use already. Is the battery just gone? Controller works fine if plugged in.

I had two battery packs die on me a few months back. Worthless crap. I just switched over the using Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries.

have those worked for you?
mine are about a year. and they definitely hold a worthless charge...

Sounds like your battery went dead. Funny enough, my controllers have the exact opposite problem - they make that "I'm about to die" pattern of flashes, but are nowhere near dead.

I hate my 360 rechargeable packs. They don't hold a charge for shit, and unless I'm a noob (very likely) I can't make them charge when the system isn't on, which defeats the damn purpose.

Side question - does the PS3 charge when the system is turned off? I've plugged my controllers in before and they didn't light up or anything to indicate that they're charging.

I don't believe so. The only difference is that my PS3 controller holds a charge for like, 15 hours and charges really quickly while I use it, whereas my 360 one takes a good 3 hours to charge and only holds a charge for 5 hours at most.

Well I thought these packs would last longer than a year. I don't like running through batteries like crazy. Plus if I run out out batteries I'm fucked, as I most likely won't remember to check my stock of them until its too late.

I use the PS3 charge docking station. I have never had a PS3 controller even come close to dieing.

Red when it needs a charge, and green when full. I can play the PS3 for about 8 straight hours, and when I put the controller back on the charge station, it is still green. :thumbsup:

Microsoft's batteries are a bad value, but this is a bad value too. NiMh AA cells are the best value.

Is the battery pack made by Nyko? Both my Nyko ones went bad but my Microsoft packs are still up and running. Nyko's cord also went bad as well and would flash green when the controller vibrator and eventually stopped lighting up all together. Thats what I get for buying generic.

Yea I agree with you rage. A lot of people made fun of me when I would purchase more expensive products. But in the long run, the cheap products always go bad.

After I sold my PS3, I bought a HDMI cable from Monoprice, and when I went to use it, it had a broken wire inside or something. Would not work. Well...needless to say, I am now using a SONY brand.

Nyko batteries suck. Don't buy. Mine actually made my controller do all kinds of weird stuff, like point my gun at the sky and empty the magazine.

mine died as well in a couple of months... i just use energizers I got for cheap, actually less hassle as they last pretty long
