wow, somebody cant read

"The case stemmed from Republican complaints that an estimated 13,000 people who apparently have died remain on voter registration lists, including 4,755 people who reportedly voted in last November's election."

I would not be surprised if 13,000 registered voters in a state of 15,000,000 died since last year...

Funny but completely deceptive.
The article does say that due to an error 13,000 people who should have been routinely taken off the list for having died were not.
The Republicans are claiming that 4,755 of those people voted in the last election. It is very likely that all or most of the votes were merely people with the same names as those who died.
An allegation of 4,755 people who knowingly voted more than once suggests a massive conspiracy. And the only thing we have to go on is the Republicans say so. On election day. Great timing. Nothing much will come of it. Despite terrible Democratic scandals New Jersey again elected a Democratic governor.
Ha.

Yep, the party of angels. So honest. So fair.

Shades of November 2004 in Virginia. If it takes dead voters to defeat these cheating scum then so be it.

Fight fire with fire. ;)

Voters report problems with voting machines in Roanoke Co.

Election day voting is going on across the Old Dominion, but everything has not gone smoothly in Roanoke County.

News 7 has received calls from several voters in at least four different precincts who say their votes for Tim Kaine were not recorded or took several attempts to go through.

They contend the electronic touch screens repeatedly indicated they were voting for Republican candidate Jerry Kilgore instead of registering their intended vote for his Democratic opponent Tim Kaine.

Roanoke Co. Registrar Judy Stokes says she doesn't want to say the problem is operator error on the part of the voters, but she points out the touch screens are sensitive. She says anyone who is having difficulty voting should ask one of the poll workers for assistance.

State election officials have been told of the problem. They believe if there is a problem, it could have been caused by the way the machines were stored.

The Kaine compaign is reportedly watching the situation in Roanoke County.

Sadly this is not a problem unique to New Jersey. It happens all over the place. Alaska has one of the worst voter rolls anywhere. Registered voters outnumber actual citizens by nearly50,000. The problem comes from not accounting for deaths and not purging registered voters who have moved out of the state.

Election officials in Maine were able to reduce their voter rolls to 882,337 by June of this year, still giving the state one of America's highest registration rates at 93 percent. Meanwhile, Alaska's lists deteriorated to the point that by October of this year the state was 108 percent registered.

"I'm very happy to pass this honor over to Alaska," Wyke said. "Our problems really were based in Maine law not requiring any kind of systematic purging of the voter rolls."

The federal registration act ? often called the Motor Voter Bill since it authorized citizens to register while applying for drivers licenses ? provided a mechanism to remove apparently inactive voters. But many local election supervisors are overwhelmed by the task of regularly preparing lists of voters who have not cast ballots in recent elections.

Maine and Alaska apparently are the first states ? at least in modern times ? to report more voters than eligible population. But the inaccuracies are even more apparent at the local level.

They are working right now to clean up the voter rolls. Here's hoping they get it right.

Edit: That quote was circa 10/2000

Reminds me of Detroit where up to 300,000 dead and missing are still on the roles - many still amazingly send in absentee ballots. Even better are the Democrat lackeys that have been sent out to 'help' the elderly 'fill out their absentee ballots'.

QFT

and you guys mocked the Diebold (sp) threads. lol

Because there is no proof. However, when dead people are voting, it's pretty clear something illegal is happening.

When you're not given a print out of what you voted for, how can there be proof?

someone fvcked up, sure thing, but reading the article, I don't see any proof that #1 dead people voted, and #2 that the democratic party in NJ is somehow responsible for the mistake that was made in keeping their names on the list.

We don't *have* a party of Angels anywhere near power, LOL. We've got Corrupt Republicans and Corrupt Democrats, and they are in total agreement on keeping themselves in power, and publically disagreeing on *just enough* to keep the idiot populace too busy bickering among themselves over whether or not 12 year old Suzy should have to tell Mom and Dad she's getting an abortion because her 25 year old boyfriend knocked her up to realize that both parties have duped their dumb asses *yet again*.

You will never meet an HONEST career politician, Democrat or Republican. They don't exist.

And the Republicans have been giving them more voters on a daily basis as a result of their ill conceived war in Iraq.

From ntdz, about mocking concerns about Diebold voting-

"Because there is no proof. However, when dead people are voting, it's pretty clear something illegal is happening."

The whole point about Diebold voting is that there is no proof... absolutely no way to determine the accuracy of the published results, other than the old "Trust Me" routine...

There's no proof in this allegation, either, merely innuendo and wingnut partisans believing what they want to believe. We need to see how this all shakes out before levelling charges against anybody...
