35W XP-M vs 45W XP-M

According to Avalons findings, the 35w 2200 XPM requires the same voltage as the XPM 45w'ers (2500/2600) to reach 2.5Ghz. so....is there really any advantage to the 35w'ers? do they run cooler for some reason @ 2.5Ghz?

They are the same CPU. The difference in heat dissipation is only applicable at stock settings--35w mobiles run at 1.35v default and the 45w run at 1.45v. If you up the voltage and clock on a 35w 2200+ to the same as a stock 45w 2400+, then you've basically got two 45w CPUs. (The 35w and 45w CPUs in my example both cost $77, btw.)

35w CPUs are only advantageous if you're going to keep them at (or below) stock voltage for use in a smaller system where heat is a concern.

Same voltage at same speed = same temps.

The 35w mobile is most likely the SAME chip as the 45w mobile, just running slower and in turn less voltage.

The 35w 2200+ is probably most comparable to the 45w 2400+, and costs the same. However, I'm generally finding that the 35w 2400+ is most comparable to the 45w 2600+, and not the 2500+, and the 35w 2400+ is cheaper than the 2600+, by about $10. The 35w 2400+ chips all seem to be able to do 2.4ghz-2.6ghz on air easily.

i have a 2400+ 35watter and a 2500+ 45watter

the 2400+ 35watter can do 2.9 on my dfi primestable

the 2500+ 45watter can't do 2.9 oin my dfi for longer than 5 minutes.

both at the same voltage.

but honestly i'd just get the cheapest one possible if you're going to be overclocking cuz you'll have to raise voltage anyway to get to 2.5 or 2.6 ghz

so at 2.5Ghz on air there is really no difference...and one more thing....i can't find the 35w 2400's on newegg, only the 2200's. am i missing something...

For some reason it the 2400+ doesn't show up listed with the rest of the mobiles. Type "35 amd mobile" in the product search line and it should show up.

from one post i read the persons 2200 didnt oc very well, 2200 mhz i think with 1.8 volts.
