W00T! I finally get to make one of these posts. Team Anandtech is now 35th in the rankings. We've made great progress within the last two weeks. There are about 20,000,000 structures between us and the 34th ranked team, but we can catch up right? :)

Sun Microsystems is the team in front of us at 34 and they are currently averaging more production that us, but the difference is a little more than 2.8 million structures a week. I just joined TeAm DF yesterday with an Athlon 1800+ w/512MB RAM (using the extra RAM setting) that is showing in DFGUI to produce about 135K Structures a day.
That means roughly 945K a week. If we get 3 systems like this one on the team we will equal the production difference. :)

Right now if you look at the statsman site and sort the teams table by weekly production we are 21st. So we will be moving up anyway, but we would get there a lot faster with some help.

I wonder what happened. Yesterday we were in 36th and the closest was 20,000 away. Someone must have lost a big member.

Well,

I've got an Athlon TBird 1400 and another one at 1500 (I can push her higher, but we're in the middle of a heatwave and no a/c) going now. They've both got 512 MB DDR so extra ram is no problem.

Unfortunately, the 1400 isn't mine and I've only got her for this month.

Hope to put up some decent numbers in the meantime, though.

Let's open up a can of whoop ass and take it to 'em.

First go here and click on New User
When you have filled out the required information, click register me.
That will produce your ID code you will need to enter into the client

Next go back to here and login. You can enter a user name and enter the information of where you are. Select Team Anandtech in the current team selection and save changes.

Now go here and download the appropriate client.

If you are running the windows CLI I would also recommend getting dfGUI for monitoring and setup of the client.

Let us know if you have problems setting the client up and we'll see what we can do to help :)

Distributed Folding is a newer project. I just noticed about that you referred to Dnet. If you are looking to crack RC5, I'm sorry I can't help with that since I haven't run that project. If you start another thread, I am sure someone running the RC5 project can get you up and running again :)

I just d/l & started the client on an 1800+. If this deal behaves well, then I may introduce it to some of my other machines.

Thanks to Crazee for the quick response to the pm. dfGUI is great btw. :) Showing ~4800-4900 structures per hour right now.

I've found that it behaves very well as long as you are running Windows NT/2K/XP. Windows 95/98/ME aren't so good.

I'm really please with how the TeAm is rallying to support this project.:)

I really like this project...

I feel that they're doing a good job of being open and honest with the members, and that they realize that everybodies got different needs (like non-interactive for clusters, run it as a service, etc).

It's really good to see them looking at ways to improve their performance. I think that the majority of units done are on machines with at least 256 MB ram, so it's good to see them taking advantage of that.

Can't wait to see what they'll come up with in the future.
