Hi all , Happy Holiday.
I just try overclock my cpu to 4.2ghz with AUTO V.Core, Is this consider OK for not touching the vcore as I read that some say need to adjust but some said just put on AUTO so I try using AUTO 1st and run test intel burn test at High setting and past....been doing IBT 12 time already and all passed. Still for the temperature I got max load at 80'C,And on Prime95 full load is 70'C. I already try 3 time cleaning and adjusting/reseating cpu cooler but this is the same temperature I got, Is this consider acceptable temp for overclocking my processor? And when the computer idle the temp is at 40'C which I think is quite hot right or is it normal ? Can you guys give some tips or solution am I doing right for overclocking and is there any way to reduce my temp ? My mobo is Asus P8Z77-V-Pro with CM Hyper 212X. I also Attache a picture for your review of the result.

Thanks in advance.

I have same MB and same CPU , Your temps are not bad for 4200 but idle temps are little high .
Your pic shows 4200 in CPU-Z do you have speedstep disabled ?

I run 4200 OC with turbo cores and working 1600 idle with vcore on auto gives 1.120-1.128 with prime95 blend with temps in mid 60's .That is with CM hyper 212evo with fan profile set in bios .
Temps have more to do with voltage .

yeah your idle temps are a little high.

my 3570k oc'd to 4.4 stable, under load shows it uses (via core temp) 1.1609v

my idle temps are from 29-32 on any given core. this is at room temperature 68 degrees. that's what i''ve seen from almost all i5 temp showings from other 3570k users when i was reading up how to oc this thing earlier this year.

for your stress test temps, did you get those just a couple minutes after you started it? cause if you did it's not accurate, takes a bit of time before your true high temps show. run the stress test program for like 8 minutes then see the temps.

my case is a fractal designs r4 with 3x140mm fans. my heatsink is nothing crazy, a cooler master hyper 212 evo.

Thanks for replying guys.....sorry for late reply..just got back from work....Yes i also think it's to high for my idle temp and i was planning to get Corsair h100i as recommend by my friend. What do you guys think about H100i...will it really drastically low down my temp , and in below I already attached my picture for running again under Prime95 and IBT ....and .....I saw why is a difference about 10'C comparing Prime 95 and IBT and why is my core 1 and core 2 a bit high than the rest of the core?

After 1 Hour of test this is the result I get using Prime95 and IBT

Thanks in advance guys.

Enable EIST/Speedstep/C states for your CPU. Then it should idle at 1600Mhz when you look in CPU-Z.

Not using it is simply burning money for no reason.

Yes an H100i will make a huge difference over the stock cooler.

Depending on your case, and ambient temperature, your max will drop into the low to mid 60's with that voltage, and idle around 30.

OP's already got a hyper 212. I doubt a H100 will give substantial gains.

it's pretty weird that your load temps are just fine but idle you are about 10C above where you should be.

Your last set of pics shows speedstep is working ok as your at 1600 at idle with nice low voltage 0.824 , at load your at 4200@1.144v which is not bad .
your load temps are not much more than mine but not sure why your idle temps are like that, you could mess around with fan profile to give these results .

At idle 1000rpm (approx 50% fan speed ).
At full load 1500rpm ,(approx 75% fan speed ).

See if that helps .

PS: moving to 100i should lower temps about 8c but for 4200 I don't think its needed really , unless you just want slightly lower temps .

On core temps, that is perfectly normal to have different temps on each core up to about 8c or so and IBT does run hotter than prime95 by like 5-8c or so .

One last thing, why do you have so many monitoring apps running , leave just one to do monitoring ,close all the rest . no need for speedfan as you have fan Expert too

Around 40C idle seems normal for IB.
My idle temps are few c over ambient temps so 24-34c depending on core, thats with room temp of 72-73F . We never asked what room temps are ?

Direct heatpipe cooler give real low idle temps generally .

Sorry a bit late reply back as I just got back from out station job, I Just wanna give you the latest update on my pc which now I can consider better temp than my previous report,

Prime95 : http://i40.tinypic.com/29e3gh2.jpg

IBT : http://i39.tinypic.com/4r5c3k.jpg

Idle Temp : http://i44.tinypic.com/j77nfl.jpg

While waiting for my Corsair H100i I decided to just add another Cm BladeMaster ( Push n Pull ) and use new thermal paste CM X1 EXTREME FUSION and I found that it decrease my temp even though I try to buy MX4 or Artic 5 which is unavailable at the pc shop near my house. I think given a time the thermal paste will get better at cooling the processor right ? So right now i'm doubting a bit whether I should purchase the Corsair H100i....hahaha...now in dilemma...What do you guys think ? Should I buy it or not ? Or is my temp still need to adjust more ?

Thanks in advance.

I think your high idle temps are caused by either not great case airflow or high room temps .
looking at you idle pic HWmonitor MB temps are all pretty high , in CPUin and Sysin your in high 30's but you do have min of 24c for TMPin3 .
So I am thinking airflow . anyway that would depend on case and fans you have ,its not bad as load temps are what really count .

Oh, use just one monitoring software as having many running can give errors in reading .
