Is a 350W Enermax EG365P-VE power supply enough to drive the following:

2 x wd800jb HDs
CDRW drive
DVD drive
GeForce 4 ti4400
PCI professional soundcard
PCI modem
AMD XP1600+
all nforce2 onboard stuff

Just hoping I can stick with this psu without needing something over 400W

Thanks to all the experienced nerds out there!

Why do people always think that they need 400 watts or more. Geez those are server board wattage ratings.

I am running Two HDs one is 7200, A CDRW, DVD-ROM, PCI modem, PCI sound card, Athlon 1.33ghz, and a RADEON 8500LE 128 megs all on 300 watt sparkle power supply.

More then enough for anything less then the new p4's and xp chips and systems but finally falters at the new system requirements. My new 400w (brand name I won't mention) was a measly 160w. The reason this is important is because the motherboard, cpu, agp/pci, and usb devices all run off this part of the power supply."

Umm no, that information is not entirely correct.

The biggest power hog on any AMD XP system is the CPU itself , next is the graphics card (in most cases).
The CPU draws from the 12V rail , not the 3.3 and 5V, although he is right , the combined 3.3v and 5v should be high (180+watts) the 12V rail is just as important. Depending on the chip an Athlon XP can suck nearly 8amps , the pig hard drive sucks another 2amp , fans also suck off the 12V rail but an average 80mm fan only take .25amps with a full load. Fans are the least of a persons worrys.
ideally look for 200+ watts for the combined and 15+amps for the 12V rail, 300+watts total.

I think some mainboards hog power, possibly. I built a computer about 3 1/2 years ago based on an Athlon 700 original slot A variety. It originally had a 235 W power supply, and I couldn't get it to work properly until I bought a new PS for the case, which was a 300 Watter. I have never heard of this happening with ASUS boards, which is what I have now. They seem to be very good power wise. The other one was an EPOX 7KXA or something like that.
