for a "normal" overclock, you won't need more than a standard 212 or its alternatives.

re: 980, it's still a good deal. (tbh i thought we were talking about a Ti)

i know that 4k will change the game, but we are still in the early adoption period. and during these periods, i try not to buy into the new tech, because i know that the next step will be much cheaper.

hey maybe the 980 isn't enough, but i'm here rocking a 770.

there's just something about spending $700 for a video card.. i just can't.

I'm with you there. I can't go over $300 for a video card. It's just a mental block I can't get past.

However, I don't game as much as I did when I was younger and playing games like Quake II and Unreal 😉 Now it's just a little Civ5 when my wife and kids give me 5 minutes of peace.

nice links thanks Usand , hey man have you seen phanteks enthoo evolve ATX TG mid tower case ? now I wish I had not seen it because I want it so badly LOL , it looks so good! if you havent seen it or heard of it, google it man.

Yeah, it is a stunner for sure. It was just too rich for me being such a tightwad. 🙂 Although I have really enjoyed my Fractal Design R5 this build. Not as good looking, but does the job well.

I'm just glad it's not the mid 90's where you could choose between one ugly beige case and an even uglier beige case. 😉

UsandThem, I just tried PM you for 1st time ever, it didnt work for some reason so I have never used PM before until tonight. so I had to copy and paste in here.. hopefully you will see this message. here it is.

just wanted to say thanks for links and helpful info for my recent build, but I am not sure if you are into crunching / folding. but I prefer WCG / Boinc over F@H ... anyways just wondering if you have an opinion which setup will net you more points per day..

my system i7 6700K OC to 5 GHz stable once I am done building. or someone I know that has this setup.

5960X for some reason he didnt do any OC on it, so its stock speed.. kinda of a waste of money for 5960X if you dont plan to OC it, eh ? he got more cores than I do tho. so he may get more points per day.

I haven't done that for a long time, so I have no idea on the expectations are on current hardware.

The sub-forum for that probably would give you some good info though:

Just off the top of my head, I do think his cpu will beat yours at crunching, but that is just a guess based on old Xeon's performance.
