3500+ Clawhammer @ 3.0ghz??!

Mrvile

Lifer
A certain someone here 😉 is running a 3500+ Clawhammer @ 3.0ghz (300 x 10) on air (Zalman 7700). So I pm him, and he says it's Magic...

So what gives?

Are Clawhammers known for hitting crazy speeds? Or is he sending me on a wild shens chase?

Just noticed that I changed the cooling system. 😉

😉

I pumped my voltage up to about ~3.25v and was able to run 3.75ghz for a little while but something started to smell funny so I turned it off. Damn Thermalright, they sux.

Seriously, though. Am I completely out of the ballpark asking this?

I've never seen proof of anyone running a clawhammer at anything even approaching 4ghz, phase change cooling or not. If anyone has, URL me...

What about Clawhammers @ 3? I dunno if I can trust anything that comes out of Kensai's mouth anymore 😉

I have seen a liquid nitrogen (if I remember correctly) FX-55 at 4ghrtz. I believe it was at OCZsystems forum or extremesystems. Sorry, I don't remember where. Here is ATI getting close with liquid nitrogen to 4ghtrz on an FX55 almost

By the way Kensai, you're telling me with that rig you can't afford a camera or being able to hit capture screen on your keyboard? OK.

so you're running 4 x 512 meg sticks at ddr600???

you have to be using a divider cuz no way the clawhammer mem controller can handle that... it's a known issue tha with 4 sticks on claw/new/win that the board forces the ram to run with the 166 divider and 2T...

i wanna see some bandwidth tests...

Why? Just take a screenshot, Alt + PrtScr and then paste it into Paint. We'll be waiting for it, and make sure you get it validated so we know it isn't photo chopped.

Some of the nonsense in this thread is truly funny. No AMD chip has ever hit 5ghz. The world record is a little over 4 ghz. No AMD64 chip could handle 3 volts. No way he's running 4X512 at 300 unless its 2T. Even then, highly unlikely. The 3ghz on the 3500+ is possible with chilled water.

He may be hitting 5 GHz in teh bios, but the highest A64 overclock to make it to Windows was that FX-55 @ 4 GHz.

That would explain why he needs a camera & can't do a screen capture 😉

I agree his sig said 3ghz cause I saw it, but I never felt it was that insane....I figured it could be done with even non extreme cooling....

I believe you Kensai!!!

Thank you. Also, I believe on Extreme Overclocking that one of their godly overclockers had a 5GHz FX-53 and a 6.3GHz P4 from 3.4GHz.

I read most of those insanely mad ocers sigs and I have never seen any FX models higher then 4.0ghz...I have seen lots of 5ghz P4s but that is it...

Who knows I imagine half of them may be BSing anyways...I could go in there and in joking write like

A64 3000+@3.46ghz and they would probably buy it even without stating what the cooler was.....

Noone has come close to 5ghz on AMD. The FX53 is a terrible overclocker when compared to an FX55 so it sure wasnt one of those. 6.3 with a prescott can be done on a cascade

you should go to xtremesystems for some real overclocks. You need to back up your claims with cpuz verified screenshots. Some crazy stuff goes on in there.
