The deal is back again...in SoCal (I think only in SoCal, maybe other places too)! Now there is a $110 instant gift rebate! $10 cheaper! Woot!

It just means money taken off at the register. 290 with 110 instant gift rebate is 180 + tax OTD.
Anyway, this deal is now 169.99 OTD.
Here's a current Fry's ropad to the deal Fry's ad

How well does this chip overclock? Is it worth the extra $70 from the sale yesterday (A64 3000+ & ECS MOBO)? I picked up the combo yesterday and currently have it overclocked to 2.4Ghz.

They overclock the same. Same core = same overclock. Stock speeds are just different. That's all.

Also, the deal yesterday was a socket 754 3000+. Not sure if socket really matters.

I noticed that the socket 754 3000+ runs at 2.0 GHz and the 939 runs at 1.8 GHz.

This board is PCI-E, so if you need AGP you'd need to stick with the $99 NF3 combo from yesterday. I think both are great buys depending on if you want AGP or PCI-E, but the bang for buck on this one isn't quite as good since it's almost twice as much. The S754 3000+ at 2.4ghz is probably just as fast as this S939 3500+ stock.

agree. but I would go with 3500+ combo because of PCI-E only :)

You could have gotten in on the Pentium D 805 / ECS combo last week for 150 bucks. I needed an inexpensive dual core for a project I'm working on. Not a fan of Intel stuff, but I am a fan of inexpensive ways to meet my needs. :D

He's talking about cheap as in price, not cheap as in quality. LOL. j/k

The 805 is good for other things besides gaming.
