There would never have been an Eddie Van Halen had Jimi not pioneered the style and sound of modern rock guitar. Eddie himself would be the first to tell you that.

I agree. He was also a improvisational master yet to be equaled. Hendrix played in color. Everybody else plays in black and white. Amazing how well his material has held up over the years. Much of it still sounds vibrant.
